One Wild idea from Gary

What started this project? A Dream. The Dream I like to call…

A Victim of Nature’s Tempest

I WOKE UP FROM A NIGHTMARE.  ALL THE LIGHTS WERE OUT AND IT WAS COLD.

I mean really cold, my bones felt like frozen ice. It was then I realized I was drenched from head to toe…in sweat?

Then the visions of the dream came back to me, and I re-lived the nightmare all over again.

This time awake, with my minds eyes.

I remember standing on a river bank, forest and shrubs all around me, the river to my back. Across the river I saw a house made of rough timber on stilts of a sort, with a small row boat tethered beside it.

My eyes were drawn to the east where the sun was just starting to peak over the horizon, oh…the beauty! I was overwhelmed by the simple warmth I felt as it rose up, higher and higher into the morning sky. I just kept staring at it. I could not take my eyes off of the majestic glare.

It rose at a faster than normal rate, time it seemed, was accelerated.

My attention was drawn again, to the south this time, where my vision was telescoped to the edge of the far horizon. The sky was covered in clouds there; lightning lit up the sky in several places at once, the rain poured down almost horizontally. Then I knew it was not just my vision, I felt the raging winds, saw  the crashing waves just before me, and felt the raw fear of nature itself, as the rain spiked into my body.

It was traveling. I was being pushed before the tempest of a storm. North we traveled, until we struck land.

Now I knew neither time, nor even space, mattered.

‘Ahhh!’ The pain I felt as the storm continued on over land was unlike anything I had ever experienced. How I could have remained conscience even, I have no idea. I remember screaming until my lungs could give forth no more, and then inhaling deeply, only to scream again.

And then it got worse.

My body began to be pummeled, and slammed this way and that, by all kinds of things. Once I felt a car hit me in the legs and send me cart wheeling further into the fray.

Another time, I was struck in the face by a Stop sign, and felt the top half of my scalp ripped off by the dull, jagged steel.

The wild fury of the storm beat upon me as small items struck me, causing their own small cuts and pain; then bounce off, and larger items would bash and bruise me with their unrelenting pounding. There was another pain too. I felt others pain as they were pummeled and beaten by the same monster I was stuck inside of.

Would it ever end?

It seemed like an eternity, but it did end. Or rather, might I say, that it changed. I was filled with a different kind of pain, when the winds died and the rain stopped. This was mixed with a terrible sorrow.

I felt the dead and wounded, as if they were somehow linked to me, like some twins are said to be linked. I could hear the survivors moans, I looked through the dead eyes of those less fortunate. I was struck by the full impact of the devastation I had witnessed.

What exactly was it that I had witnessed?

My friend Gary dreamed up this idea. He also built it. If you would like to know more then e-mail him at IGRComputers@aol.com
